COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is crediting the CARES Act with making the funds available so that they can have a mobile clinic van.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says the agency identified a need for a mobile clinic around 2010 and a need for mobile COVID-19 testing and vaccinations when the pandemic hit. She says funding from the CARES Act allowed them to get the resources they needed to make this purchase.
Registered Nurse Carol Drews is assigned to the mobile clinic van which was recently taken possession of by the Community Health Agency.
The mobile clinic van has helped distribute COVID-19 vaccinations and testing to those individuals with transportation limitations, at local schools, and businesses.
Burns said, “After the pandemic is over, the Agency will utilize the vehicle to provide mobile services to our most vulnerable citizens. The mobile clinic van will eventually make available all types of immunizations, access to the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, and other public health services in the future.”
The mobile clinic van, which will house medical equipment and transport two people, will also allow the health agency to partner with community organizations to provide services.
If you need assistance at your home, work place, or community event, or have questions about the unit, call Drews at (517) 279-9561 extension 101.
In addition, the Community Health Agency will be offering COVID-19 vaccines this Friday from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Three Rivers Water Fest. No appointment is needed for these vaccinations.
