QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Village Council approved language in agreements and applications on Tuesday evening for the renters of sheds in the North East Block redevelopment that will be known as Market 1858.
The sheds are scheduled to open on July 29 thanks to a special grant program that was announced in late 2019.
Village Manager Brittany Butler told the Village Council the first two applications have been received.
The user agreement calls for $300 in rent for the first year partial season and $800 for a full season which will run through the end of October. Included in the rent is a $50 Quincy Chamber of Commerce membership.
The sheds would be open from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and for festival days
A grant from the Branch County Community Foundation was used for the initial phase of the project which included the acquisition of buildings and a marketing campaign for available business opportunities.
The funding from the Branch County Community Foundation is part of its Community Good Grant Cycle. Funding was also made available from the Forever Fund and the Dan and Judy Dobson Fund.
Market 1858 replaced a courtyard area. Included in the remodel is the addition of seven small sheds. Six of the sheds will provide small seasonal business opportunities with the other being a restroom facility.
