BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police and the Calhoun County Medical Examiner are investigating the Wednesday night death of a female inmate at the Calhoun County Jail.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says corrections officers and medical staff in the jail responded at around 7:20 p.m. to an inmate who was unresponsive in her cell.
According to a Sheriff’s Department, the 32-year-old woman from Battle Creek was not displaying vital signs.
A nurse performed CPR, but medics were unable to revive her.
The woman’s bond was recently revoked by the Calhoun County Circuit Court as the result of a violation. The original charge was unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Department says the death does not appear to be suspicious.
The State Police and the Calhoun County Examiner are investigating the death as standard procedure.
