BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police have released the name of an inmate of the Calhoun County Jail who died recently.
State Police Detective Sgt. Christopher Suarez told WWMT-TV the inmate has been identified as 32-year-old Heather Burrett.
Previously, police reported that an inmate was found unresponsive in her cell on June 16.
According to the new report, police say she died about a day after being lodged in her cell. She had originally been charged with the unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle in April, which she was sentenced to probation for.
She was jailed after failing a drug test, according to the report.
At this time, police do not suspect foul play, and an autopsy did not indicate signs of trauma.
The results of a toxicology report are currently being sought while the death remains under investigation.
