BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – If the weather forecast is accurate, we maybe in for some very soggy weather for several days starting on Friday.
The National Weather Service forecast is calling for showers and thunderstorms for at least five straight days with the possibility some of the storms will produce heavy rainfall.
You might as well forget about any outdoor plans for the weekend as a storm system is expected to move into Michigan Thursday night and then just stall out. That means several depressing and miserable days of weather with little if any sunshine and a copious amount of rain.
Rainfall amounts are expected to be two inches or higher south of Grand Rapids and Lansing.
While the National Weather Service has not made any predictions on the amount of rain, there is a possibility over five inches of rain will fall in Branch County before the weekend wraps up.
Right now, the possibility of severe weather in association with the storm system is low.
The expected heavy rain would help alleviate severe and moderate drought conditions in Branch County and the surrounding area.
The M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm has measured 3.61 inches of rain for the month of June which is more than the rainfall measured at that location during April (1.55 inches) and May (1.78 inches).
