COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency Health Officer Rebecca Burns told the Board of Health on Thursday that there have been eight cases of the Delta variant reported so far in the district.
She said four of the cases were from Branch County with the other four from St. Joseph County. Burns added the cases were tied together.
With the Delta variant being highly contagious, Burns is worried about an increase in cases because of the low COVID-19 vaccination rate in the tri-county area.
Meanwhile, Burns reported the Community Health Agency is continuing to encourage local providers to offer COVID-19 vaccinations.
Three Rivers Health and Sturgis Hospital have both accepted vials of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine from the health agency so that they can offer vaccination to patients they are discharging.
Burns says they are also encouraging providers to use the agency as their “hub” for the Pfizer vaccine and get what they need every week or so, so that they can provide more opportunities to vaccinate adolescents.
