LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A state lawmaker from Kalamazoo has proposed a bill that would use a sort of contact tracing to help combat overdose deaths.
Sen. Sean McCann says the measure would create Drug Fatality Review Teams across Michigan that would utilize the toxicology of victims of overdoses in order to help prevent others from suffering the same fate.
If passed, the bill would permit authorities to release more detailed information to assist law enforcement in tracking not only the drug itself, but any additives or trends that could help them in their efforts.
The bill now heads to a House committee for consideration.
