CASSOPOLIS MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A single vehicle accident Saturday evening that injured three people remains under investigation by Cass County authorities.
Deputies were called to the scene of an accident on M-40 near Teasdale Lake Rd. in Porter Township at around 7:35 pm.
They discovered that a car driven by 17-year-old Emily Avery of Three Rivers had left the road, then struck an embankment, ending up on its roof.
Two passengers in the vehicle, 18-year-old Madelyn Courtney of Chicago, and 15-year-old Sydney Avery, were taken to a hospital in Elkhart for treatment, while Emily Avery was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities say that seat belts appear to have not been worn, and that alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
