COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater man charged with five counts for allegedly being in possession of sexually explicit materials involving children has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
34-year-old Robert Sloan waived his District Court preliminary examination Thursday. Branch County Prosecutors filed charges against Sloan following a Michigan State Police investigation.
He has been charged with four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive materials, as well as a charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
According to Branch County court documents, a State Police investigator obtained a search warrant for Sloan’s residence which allowed him to seize electronic devices. The report stated about 250 sexually explicit photographs involving young children were found on the computer, phone, and hard drive.
Documents also state that Sloan told investigators he downloaded the images and that he had been doing it for years.
Sloan’s Circuit Court arraignment is set for August 2, 2021.
