DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Average gas prices in Michigan have fallen for the second consecutive week, but it’s been a very slow decline. AAA says drivers are paying about three cents less for a gallon of regular unleaded compared to last week.
The statewide average is now $3.20, just a penny lower than a month ago when prices jumped ahead of the 4th of July holiday. This price is 1 cent less than this time last month but still $1.06 more than this time last year. Motorists are paying an average of $48 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $9 from when prices were their highest last January.
“While the Michigan state average dropped 3 cents last week, gas prices in some metro areas held steady or even increased slightly,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “High crude prices are likely to keep gas prices above $3 per gallon throughout the summer.”
Most expensive gas price averages: Metro Detroit ($3.30), Marquette ($3.28), Ann Arbor ($3.25)
Least expensive gas price averages: Benton Harbor ($3.10), Grand Rapids ($3.12), Lansing ($3.13)
