Rose Marie Skandis, 93, of Bronson passed away peacefully Monday, August 9, 2021 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater with her daughters at her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s of Assumption Church in Bronson. Interment will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 2:00-7:00 PM, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00PM
The youngest of eleven children, Rose was born July 6, 1928 to George and Helen (Kubasiak)Kibiloski in Matteson Township, Bronson, MI. Rose was a 1945 graduate of Bronson High School and on September 26, 1953 she married Walter Peter Skandis at St. Mary’s Church in Bronson and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1997. Rose had begun her working career at Bronson Reel, transitioned to LA Darling, and finally after many years retired from Douglas Auto Tech in 1994. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of St. Mary’s of Assumption Church in Bronson as well as the Ladies Rosary Society and had also held a life membership with the Bronson American Legion Auxiliary. Rose was talented in counted cross stitching and enjoyed word search puzzles and playing bingo. She held a passion for traveling that complimented her and Walter’s dancing adventures to various locations with her sisters and their husbands, and was also an avid fan of many Big Band Orchestras; but above all else, Rose loved and admired her family most, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rose is survived by her daughters Diane Hedgcock, Linda (Don) Weber both of Bronson; her sister-in-law Dorothy Skandis Radecki of South Bend, IN; her grandchildren Bridget (Andy) Valley, Victoria (Matthew) Lafty, Valerie (Ayron Gabbert) Weber, Veanna (Chaz) Sargent; great grandchildren Audrey, Haley, Nicholas, Kaylynn, Blaine, Vince; and her many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Walter, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Bernice Kibiloski, Josephine Muir, Eleanor Chappa, Florence Neverske, Victoria Trocke, Mary Linkhart, Frances Hyduk, Alberta Barkowski; brothers Walter and Joseph Kibiloski; a grandson Daniel Hedgcock; and her son-in-law James Hedgcock.
