DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Los Angeles Angels overcame an eight-run deficit to stun the Tigers 13-10 in Detroit Thursday afternoon.
Phil Gosselin kicked off a sixth inning rally that resulted in six of Los Angeles’ 11 unanswered runs. Max Stassi completed the comeback with a two-run bomb in the eighth that gave the Angels their first lead of the game.
Mike Mayers got his fourth win in relief, with Austin Warren securing his first save. Los Angeles has won three straight and four or its last five.
Miguel Cabrera is still chasing his 500th homer but he had two hits and four RBI for Detroit, which lost its fourth straight. Michael Fulmer was charged with his fifth loss and blew his third save.
Detroit begins a road trip in Toronto tonight. Tyler Alexander gets the start for the Tigers and Robbie Ray goes to the mound for the Blue Jays in the opener. The opening pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. EDT.
