COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long time member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department passed away on Sunday.
The Branch County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the Police Officers Association of Michigan said in a statement posted on their Facebook page that Corrections Officer Kevin Kokinis “lost his battle against the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Association went on to say, “Kevin you were always fun to be around and always easy to talk to. You were a great asset and a dependable co-worker. You will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children.”
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack said in a statement released Monday that Kokinis died after a brief stay at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Kokinis worked his entire 22 year career at the Sheriff’s Department in the corrections division. Pollack said he was a “valued and reliable member of the Sheriff’s Office until his passing.”
He expressed his department’s appreciation for Kokinis’ years of service and asked the Branch County community to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers while they grieve. Funeral arrangements for Kevin Kokinis are pending.
