LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Republican lawmakers in Lansing are planning a ballot drive designed to tighten up Michigan’s voting laws.
The effort, if successful, would enact the changes without needing Governor Whitmer’s signature.
Whitmer threatened to veto similar measures passed by the GOP-led Legislature.
Secure MI Vote would need to obtain about 343 thousand signatures within six months of beginning the petition drive.
If passed, voters would have to present a photo ID at a polling place, and there would also be requirements for ID proof for absentee voting as well.
