MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The State Police Fire Marshal Office is being brought in to help with the investigation into a pair of fires Saturday morning at a home in Marshall.
A house at 318 South Linden Street was destroyed while a nearby residence was damaged.
Marshall Fire Chief Martin Erskine told the Battle Creek Enquirer an investigator and city fire officials are scheduled to look at the ruins on Wednesday. Erskine says according to neighbors, no was believed inside of the vacant house.
The first fire broke out at 2:51 a.m. on Saturday morning. After it took 40 minutes to get the flames under control, firefighters cleared the scene at about 7:00 a.m..
They were called back less than an hour later when he home became engulfed in flames once again. The second fire managed to spread to a vehicle and a nearby home.
