PONTIAC, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — It’s a breath of new life at the site of the former home of the Detroit Lions. Amazon has now opened a new robotic fulfillment center where the Pontiac Silverdome used to be.
Jessica Pawl is with Amazon and says the company plans on expanding its investment in the state with several new locations including a fulfillment center near Lansing and two facilities near Grand Rapids. The company currently employs 21,000 people in the state.
The new fulfillment center planned near Lansing will employ 500 people. The sorting center and delivery station in the Grand Rapids area is planned to be built next year and in 2023 respedtively. A new delivery station will open in Canton next year and is expected to have 100 workers.
