WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Post in Jackson are investigating a fatal traffic crash in Hillsdale County’s Wheatland Township that took place on Thursday between 5:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Stewart Road, east of South Somerset Road.
According to the on-scene investigation, a westbound vehicle crossed the center line, went off the road and crashed into a cornfield.
Due to the crash, the vehicle came to a rest on top of the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle who was ejected.
The 28-year-old victim from Hudson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle was discovered more than 100 feet off the road. The victim’s name was initially not released and the investigation is ongoing.
