JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – The Legg Middle School 7th grade girls volleyball teams swept Jackson Lumen Christi on Monday night.
The A team defeated Lumen Christi 25-11, 25-20, 3-15 to improve to 5-3 on the season. Legg was led at the service line by Brooklyn Closson 20-20 with 15 aces followed by Khloe Wohlgamuth 6-8, Juliana Cowles 5-6 3 aces, T.K. Boyd 5-8 3 aces, Katie Senyk 3-3 2 aces, Isabella Angevine 2-2, Cam Cockrell 1-2 & Aubrey Gebbink & Khloe Tyler both 1-1. On defense Cowles, Wohlgamuth & Closson all had four digs with two each from Boyd, Senyk, Angevine, Tyler, Gebbink, Cockrell & Suri Stout. Cowles, Closson & Boyd each had two kills on the night.
The B team rallied to defeat Lumen Christi 22-25, 25-21, 15-4. Leading the Cards in serving was Ella Thompson 16/18 with 4 aces, Savannah Hayward 13/17 with 6 aces, Kinley Brown 6/9 with 2 aces and Hailey Winkleman 4/4 with 3 aces.
Both of the Legg 8th grade volleyball teams also won at Lumen Christi on Monday night. The A team won 25-16, 26-24. Leading Legg in serving was Hailey McFarland with 7 points and 2 aces, Maria Ortiz 5 points, Maddie Moore 4 points, Rylie VanAken 5 points. Mya Porter 6 kills and 2 digs. Coley Burkhardt 3 kills and one dig. MacKenzie VanDongen 3 points and one kill.
The 8th grade B team also won 25-19, 17-25, 15-13. Leading Legg in serving was Carly Krzyzanski with 8 points and 4 aces, Oliva Searls 5 points 3 aces. Maranda Walinski, Riley Graham and Novelle Sheehen each with 2 points. Natalia Blankenship and Joslynn Bitar each with a dig.
The Legg volleyball teams will travel to Harper Creek on Thursday.
