COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boy soccer teams celebrated “Cultural Understanding Day” with a pair of victories over Sturgis Saturday.
The varsity team topped Sturgis 4-0. Amine Mohammed scored two goals and had one assist. Mukhtar Abdulla had one goal and two assists, while Brayden Boyd had the other goal.
Asa Marc had an assist, while Bauston Feldbauer made eight saves in goal.
Coldwater outshot Sturgis 20-10, improving their record to 5-4-1 on the season.
The “Cultural Understanding Day” was developed three years ago between the two schools to celebrate their ethnic diversity while bringing the communities together through soccer.
A grant from Apex Clean Energy paid for special t-shirts and banners for the teams, while Altrusa International of Branch County provided gifts for the fans.
The Coldwater junior varsity team beat Sturgis 6-0. Ezaldeen Ahmed and Ghaith Musa each had three goals, while Hunter Barnett had the shutout in goal.
Both teams resume Interstate 8 Conference play at Pennfield Tuesday.
