COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team opened Interstate 8 Conference Gold Division Tournament play Tuesday with a 3-1 home win over Parma Western.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, with their only goal just 2:24 into the game.
For the Cardinals, Amine Mohammed scored with 18:11 to play in the first half, assisted by Nabil Saeed. Mohammed would score again three minutes later, assisted by Hisham Zamzami, as Coldwater took the lead. Naj Norman scored the final goal of the game on a penalty kick with 28:46 to play in the second half.
Bauston Feldbauer made three saves in goal, as Coldwater outshot Parma Western 11-8.
The Cardinals are now 7-0-1 in the conference and 11-5-2 overall. They will play at Marshall in the Gold Division championship game Thursday, after the Redhawks beat Harper Creek 5-0 in their first round game Tuesday. Coldwater and Marshall played to a 3-3 tie last month.
Coldwater will host Parma Western again in the first round of District play next Wednesday.
The Cardinal junior varsity team beat Parma Western 6-0 Tuesday. Abraham Campos and Ghaith Musa each had two goals, with one each for Niko Downs and Laith Musa.
Hunter Barnett made three saves in goal as the junior varsity team stayed undefeated on the season.
