WHITEFISH POINT MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A project this summer through the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society has discovered three new shipwrecks in Lake Superior.
The organization, located in Whitefish Point, said that it used a type of sonar onboard its research vessel to find and map out where the newly-found wrecks were located.
The three ships, the Dot, the Frank W. Wheeler, and the Michigan, were all lost between 1883 and 1901.
The GLSHS also stated that it is studying other shipwrecks in order to identify them.
