Jimmie “Jim” Montgomery, 75 of Quincy, MI passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.
The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 3:00–7:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home- George White Chapel in Quincy, MI.
He was born September 16, 1945 in Fritz, KY to Wardie and Reavel (Back) Montgomery. On October 14, 1977 he married Chloe Bird in Coldwater, MI and she survives.
Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Muck Farms, Midwest Foundry, Simpson’s, and ConAgra where he was a Teamsters union steward. He retired from ConAgra after 35 years. When he wasn’t working he was in his barn working on vehicles. His biggest pride was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 43 years he survived by his three children James (Stephanie) Montgomery of Quincy, Joshua (Ginette) Montgomery of Quincy, and Monica (Kurt) McConn of Bronson; Grandchildren Nick Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Eliana Montgomery, Jimmie Montgomery, Reavel Montgomery, Natasha Dunman, Samantha Blake, and Briana Strader; Great Grandchild Olivia Schafsnitz; Sisters Ella (Charles) Boston of Kinderhook, Stella Wagner of Pikeville, TN, Wanda Fry of Colon, Linda (Grant) Salway of Jonesville, Phyllis (Mike) McVicker of Quincy, Charlene (Glen) Crandall of Reading, Susie Jones of Reading, Kim (Jim) Titus of Allen; Brothers, Jay (Fran) Montgomery of Dublin, GA, Harry (Linda) Montgomery of Sturgis, Gary (Alicia) Montgomery of Coldwater, and Larry Montgomery of Reading; Sister-in-laws Beryl (John) Kibiloski of Mears, MI, and Violet (Butch) Wilber of Coldwater; and several nieces and nephews. His dog Mazie; grand dogs Zoey and Lucy.
Preceding him in death were his parents, in-laws Harold and Bernetta Bird; three sisters Vonda, and Brenda, Mazie; brother Terry; brother-in-laws Tom Foltz and Jack Wagner.
