BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police Friday said they have submitted a case to the Calhoun County Prosecutor against the security guard who they say shot and killed another man early Thanksgiving morning at the Cricket Club in downtown Battle Creek.
After reviewing video footage and speaking to witnesses, a press release said police have determined they have enough evidence to recommend a case against Adam Yancer, a Cricket Club employee.
The incident took place just after midnight Thanksgiving morning, November 25. A number of customers physically fought with each other, and with security staff the Cricket Club hired for that night. Yancer fired his gun, striking Xavier West in the chest. West died from his injuries at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Battle Creek Police say they continue to investigate, and are still seeking witness statements and videos from anyone at the Cricket Club that night. They received some information after Chief Jim Blocker’s press conference Wednesday.
Battle Creek Police say they will not make further public comment until after the Prosecutor’s Office reviews the case.
