LANSING, MI (WTVB) – There would be some changes to the State Senate district that includes Branch County but the State House district that is currently represented by Andrew Fink would pretty much stay the same after the Michigan Independent Redistricting Commission approved new state House, Senate, and U.S. House district maps on Tuesday.
Branch County is currently represented by State Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey who will be term limited at the end of the year.
The district currently covers Branch, Hillsdale and Jackson Counties. The new map would change the district to the 17th and would include Branch, St. Joseph, Cass and Berrien Counties along with portions of Hillsdale and Jackson Counties.
The 58th State House District that Fink represents would still cover Branch and Hillsdale Counties and will be re-named the 35th district.
