AUGUSTA MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan State Police officials say that, for the first time, they are using citizens as a part of trainee training.
Beginning Monday, volunteers were at the Fort Custer Training Center near Augusta, to participate in real-life scenario training exercises with trooper trainees.
A spokesperson for the State Police said that the volunteers will help provide a more realistic element to the training, as well as giving the volunteers a sense of what goes on during incidents such as traffic stops.
20 volunteers showed up for the training session; MSP officials say they had over 470 applications to fill those slots.
