COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater couldn’t recover from a 10-2 first quarter deficit as they lost to visiting Jackson Northwest 42-35 Friday at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
The Cardinals were led by their two freshmen: Elli Foley had a team-high 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Elli Anderson had 8 points, 6 boards, and 2 steals. With their second straight loss, Coldwater drops to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Interstate 8 and will host Pennfield Tuesday night.
Ashley Weller led all scorers with 17 points for the Mounties, who improved to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the Interstate 8.

Elsewhere, Bronson posted a 50-46 win at Homer to improve to 6-4 overall, 5-1 in the Big 8. Haylie Wilson had a game-high 24 points for the Vikings. Union City dropped to 2-6 overall, 0-4 in conference play with a 56-29 loss at Reading. Jordan Chard paced the Chargers with 7 points. Quincy’s game at Springport was cancelled, and their Tuesday game against Concord has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 5th. Tekonsha lost to visiting Jackson Christian 33-18.
On today’s schedule: In wrestling, Bronson will host Coldwater and six other teams in its annual Clark Walker Invitational, while Quincy is at the Williamston Tournament and Union City is at the Buchanan Super Dual. In gymnastics, Coldwater travels to the Lowell Invitational. And in boys swimming, Coldwater is at Jackson for a quad meet with Sturgis and Ypsilanti Lincoln.
