SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A pedestrian was seriously injured on Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in Branch County’s Sherwood Township.
The Michigan State Police report the crash took place on M-60 near Stanton Road at about 8:40 p.m..
Troopers report a vehicle was parked facing the wrong direction on M-60 and that the driver was outside of the vehicle retrieving their mail.
The driver in an oncoming SUV assumed that the vehicle was traveling head-on in the wrong lane.
The SUV driver went into the ditch to avoid a collision and struck the pedestrian who was retrieving their mail.
The struck pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and at last report was in stable condition.
The investigation is continuing. Investigators don’t think alcohol was a factor.
