JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Ten wrestlers from Branch County captured individual titles on Saturday at the Big 8 Conference meet hosted by Jonesville.
Union City wrapped up the team championship for the season as they edged Bronson by 17 points in a hotly contested battle for the tournament title.
The Chargers finished first with 197 points followed by Bronson in second place with 180 points. Quincy finished fifth with 84 1/2 points.
Six Chargers won championships in their weight classes. They were Logan Mears (103), Landyn Crance (125), Brayton Mears (140), Colton Russell (145), Garrett Iobe (160) and Grady Iobe (215).
Bronson champions were Owen Kimmons (112), Perry Lake (119) and Aricin Smith (152).
Quincy’s Davin George won the 189 pound championship.
Jacob Reif made Quincy Wrestling history by breaking the team’s single-season takedown record, which was set by Rob Casto during his State Championship season of 1999-2000.
