LONDON UK (WKZO AM/FM) – A report by data analysis firm Stacker indicates that three West Michigan counties are on a list of the top 50 counties in the state that are food insecure.
The London, England company stated that Calhoun, Berrien, and St Joseph are on the list, which was compiled via criteria that describes food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for all people in a household to live a healthy, active life, according to Feeding America.
All three counties have rates that exceed the national level by at least 25 percent.
The top three counties in Michigan with food insecurity are Clare, Lake, and Roscommon.
