COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County will seek a grant from the U.S.D.A. ReConnect program to help fund the county’s broadband project.
The Branch County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution on Tuesday which allows County Administrator Bud Norman and I.T. Director Matt Fosdick to try and secure grant funding.
Norman said the resolution was the doorway they needed to let them apply for the grant.
He added the category they will likely apply for calls for a 25 percent match.
The request was made after Norman and Fosdick attended a conference on funding Broadband services.
According to the U.S.D.A. web site, the program provides loans and grants to pay for the cost of construction, improvement or the acquisition of facilities and equipment that are needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas.
The deadline to file an application for the grant is February 22.
