BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says a Colon man who thought he was meeting a woman he met online was robbed at gunpoint outside of Battle Creek Monday.
Police say the 26-year-old man was supposed to meet the woman in the100 block of Sharon Avenue in Pennfield Township. Once he arrived and waited for her in his car, they say an unknown male wearing dark clothing and a mask approached his vehicle. The suspect immediately got into his vehicle, presented a handgun, and struck him with the firearm.
The victim drove the assailant to a bank in Bedford Township and he was forced to withdraw money from an ATM. The vehicle was then stolen by the suspect and he left the scene.
The victim walked to a nearby convenience store to call 911 and was later treated for injuries at Bronson of Battle Creek. The suspect was not located, and the incident is still under investigation.
