BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Big 8 and Cascades Conferences have played each other in the final week of the regular season in football for many years. The format used in football over the years is now taking place in boys basketball.
The first crossover boys basketball games between the two conferences were held on Thursday night.
Union City lost at McNett Fieldhouse to Grass Lake 55-42. Kyle Johnson led the Chargers with 21 points which included six buckets from beyond the arc.
The Chargers lost their sixth straight game and saw their record drop to 8-12.
Meanwhile, Quincy hosted East Jackson in a Big Eight/Cascades Conference Crossover game in Michigan’s Coolest Gym with East Jackson coming out on top 47-34.
The Trojans led 24-14 at halftime. Quincy battled in the second half, cutting the East Jackson lead to six points, but they had dug too much of a hole to overcome.

Addison and Bronson did not take part in a cross over game as the Vikings had already played the maximum 20 games allowed during the regular season.
