HARTFORD, MI (WTVB) – The girls basketball season for Branch County schools ended when the last team standing, the Bronson Vikings, lost to Buchanan 45-37 in an MHSAA Division 3 Regional Semifinal game at Hartford High School.
The Bucks took a 9-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Vikings used a 17-4 second quarter to take a 25-13 halftime lead. Buchanan would take control in the second half with pressure defense and 15/17 shooting from the free throw line, outscoring Bronson 18-8 in the third quarter and 14-4 in the final frame.
Freshman Aubree Calloway had a team-high 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks, while Brealyn Lasky added 11 as the Vikings finished with a 15-8 record.
The Bucks improved to 19-5 and will face 22-1 Schoolcraft Thursday night for the Regional title. Schoolcraft eliminated Hartford in the early game 48-18.
