Irene was born May 6, 1929 in Kinderhook Township, Michigan to Claude and Laura (Harris) Michael. She grew up in Branch County, graduated from Coldwater High School in 1947 and attended Wright Beauty School in Battle Creek. Irene was employed as a beautician at Mitzi’s in Coldwater and later purchased the business.
On July 19, 1953, she married Ronald Frambes in Coldwater. The couple was married for 67 years at the time of his death in 2020. They were members of the Coldwater United Methodist Church all of Irene’s adult life and she sang in the church choir.
Traveling with family and friends was something Irene enjoyed – everything from camping road-trips to Hawaii and Acapulco. She gave much to many through openly sharing her gifts. Irene sang at many weddings, funerals, anniversary celebrations and other special events. She provided final hair styling and makeup for friends when they passed on. In her later years, she knit baby blankets for Beginnings Care for Life Center.
Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her son, Michael (Dawn) Frambes of Clarksville; granddaughter, Chelsea (Stewart) Edwards of Coldwater; great-granddaughter, Maizey Edwards of Coldwater; sister-in-law, Mary Frambes of Fishers, IN; and nieces, Nancy Hutchins and Margaret Radabaugh, both of Coldwater.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, Irene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Claudia (1965); a sister, Delphine Fry; a niece, Becky Fry; and a nephew, Jim Fry.
