LAKELAND, FL (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates played to a 6-6 tie yesterday in Lakeland, Florida.
Eduardo Rodriguez gave up one run in four innings in his second start of the spring and Ryan Kreidler swatted a grand-slam home run for Detroit.
The Tigers host the New York Yankees this afternoon.
The Tigers and pitcher Spencer Turnbull could be heading to arbitration. Both sides have turned in salary proposals and could reach an agreement before a hearing.
Turnbull is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is not expected to return to the team until late in the season.
Detroit avoided arbitration with seven other players, including pitcher Michael Fulmer, infielder Jeimer Candelario and utility man Harold Castro.
