BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Calhoun County homeowner went to a to a movie, and returned home later to find that their house had caught fire.
It happened Friday evening, April 8, at a residence on Baseline Road located between 1 Mile Road and 2 Mile Road.
Firefighters from Bedford Township and Johnston Township in Barry County responded to the fire around 8 p.m. and were on scene for hours before getting the blaze under control.
For now, investigators are saying that a faulty pellet stove is to blame, but are continuing to look further into the specific cause.
The home was empty at the time and no injuries were reported.
