THORNAPPLE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Thornapple-Kellogg on Thursday by scores of 18-0 and 8-1.
The Cardinals collected 12 hits in the opener led by Karlie Knisely with three hits including a double. She also drove in three runs.
Jayla Foster had two hits.
Winning pitcher Alexis Bills improved her record to 3-0 with five shutout innings and eight strikeouts. She did not walk a batter.
Kenzie Scheid was the winning pitcher in the second game as she struck out 10 in going the distance. She also did not walk a batter.
Brooklyn Kerry had three hits, Knisely had two hits and two RBI’s while Morgan Dancer had two hits including a triple.
With the sweep, the Cardinals improved to 5-1 on the season.
The Coldwater J.V. girls softball team swept a doubleheader from Colon by scores of 13-3 and 19-10 as they improved their record to 2-4.
Coldwater’s Ellie Anderson threw a no-hitter in the opener.
