JACKSON, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – Three persons were injured Thursday morning in a chain reaction crash on westbound I-94 in Jackson after a tractor-trailer failed to stop for road construction.
Michigan State Police say the crash took place at about 11:25 a.m. near the Parma exit.
When troopers arrived, they found a pet store supply truck laying on its side against the median wall and a tractor-trailer in the ditch, as well as several other vehicles that had been damaged.
Further investigation revealed that traffic was stopped coming into a lane closed construction area when a tractor-trailer failed to stop.
The tractor-trailer struck the pet store vehicle, causing a chain reaction crash involving four vehicles.
Three occupants were transported to local area hospitals, with non-serious injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 34-year-old from Flint, was cited for violation of basic speed law and failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
The Michigan State Police were assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Parma-Sandstone Fire Department, Sheridan Fire Department and Jackson County Animal Control.
