STURGIS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Abbott Nutrition is restarting work at the Sturgis, Michigan plant central to the nationwide baby formula recall next month.
The company says work will resume June 4, with new formula expected to be ready for purchase June 20. Abbott says they will also release roughly 300,000 cans of EleCare Specialty Formula for babies with allergies to cow milk to those who urgently need it, as the formula was not part of the earlier recall.
The Food and Drug Administration says enhanced testing will be done to make sure the formula is safe.
