WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) — U.S. Representative Fred Upton of St. Joseph released the following statement on Wednesday, May 25, after a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that reportedly left at least 18 children dead:
“Our hearts stop when we hear about these horrific shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook to Parkland to Oxford and now Uvalde, they just don’t seem to slow down, yet common-sense solutions fail even to be considered. Times up. We need to deal with this issue before the next school shooting occurs, including addressing mental health and gun safety.
“Now is the moment for the democratic process to move forward and stop protecting those who don’t want to work for solutions. We can—no we must—do more to save our kids.”
