DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie in their 7-5 win over the Minnesota Twins Monday afternoon.
Spencer Torkelson hit a go-ahead single to give the Tigers the lead, while Willi Castro followed him up with another RBI single. Derek Hill also went deep in the win.
Joe Jimenez earned his second win in relief, and Gregory Soto picked up his ninth save of the year.
The Tigers have won four of their last five.
Gary Sanchez, Jose Miranda, and Gio Urshela all went deep for Minnesota, and Joe Smith was tagged with his first loss out of the bullpen. The Twins have dropped two of three.
Detroit sends righthander Rony Garcia for Game One of its doubleheader with the Twins today. The first game begins at 1:10 p.m., with the nightcap scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m.
