LaShelle Ann “Shelly” Yoder, 66, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home Thursday, June 2, 2022.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City. Per her wishes, cremation will follow.
Shelly was born September 19, 1955 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She grew up in the Burlington/Tekonsha area with her parents, Harold and Ruby (Thornton) Wiescholek and was a 1972 graduate of Tekonsha Community Schools. She loved to sew and was a self-employed seamstress for many years. Shelly also worked at Firekeeper’s in Battle Creek.
On December 26, 2021 she married Perry Yoder in Burlington. He survives.
Shelly enjoyed gardening, tending flowers, cooking, baking, winemaking, making goat cheese and caring for animals.
In addition to her husband, Shelly is survived by her children, William Waltz of California and John (Christine) Waltz of Merrill; step-children, Teresa, Brenda, Sanford, Jr. and Robert; her siblings, Gary (Rhonda) Wiescholek of Union City, William “Bill” (Mariane) Wiescholek of Burlington, and Robert “Bob” (Cheryl) Wiescholek of Kalamazoo; and her parents, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Sanford Waltz.
Memorial donations are suggested to the family, in care of Shelly’s son, John Waltz.
