Edith Irma Norton, 79, of Coldwater, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Edith was born July 1, 1942 in Adrian, Michigan to Charles and Florence “Florella” (Sancrant) Wymer. After graduating from Adrian High School in 1960, she married Carroll Michael. They had five children together, but their union ended in divorce after 18 years.
Edith lived for several years in Toledo, where she worked for Toledo Hospital. Afterward, she spent two decades in the Litchfield area. She worked at Hutchinson’s in Reading and Letica in Fremont. She then worked for the Crotty Corporation in the 1980s, when she lived in Quincy. Edith also did homecare for several years. In 1991, she moved to Coldwater, and had resided there since.
In December 2000, she married Duane Norton. He survives her.
Edith was a wonderful, giving, fun-loving person. She was spirited and sassy, loved doing puzzles, writing poems and doing landscaping. She enjoyed flowers and animals, especially dogs. She attended Lighthouse Baptist in Quincy and Church of the Nazarene in Coldwater.
Left to cherish Edith’s memory, in addition to her husband, are her children, Carol Michael of Florida, Roger Michael of Coldwater, Bruce (Cassandra) Michael of Coldwater, Dawn (Jeff) McClellan of Quincy and Crystal (Chris) Peavey of Quincy; stepdaughter, Gail Tyner of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and her dogs, “Goldie” and “Izzy.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Charles Wymer, William Wymer, Ralph Wymer and Harold Wymer; her sisters, Lillie Paisley, Bessie Hathaway, Ruby Wymer, Mary Ann Lee, Alice “Lottie” Turner and infant twin siblings; a grandson, Wesley Michael; a great-granddaughter, Riley Ash, and her former spouse, Carroll Michael.
