COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who fled the scene after the vehicle he was driving crashed into several horses has plead no-contest to several charges in Branch County District.
Michigan State Police say a Dodge Charger driven by Noah Lee Harrison was travelling up to 112 miles per hour when he crested a hill on Briggs Road, tried to avoid another vehicle that had pulled around the horses, then struck the horses and two boys walking the horses. Harrison’s vehicle then went into the ditch. He admitted to troopers that he and a passenger, Dalton Messenger, fled on foot.
One horse died after being struck and the other had to be put down by troopers because of extensive injuries. The other vehicle that Harrison struck was also damaged.
The Quincy Township accident happened October 18, 2021, and a warrant was issued in March. Harrison Tuesday plead no-contest to failure to report an accident and failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident. He admitted responsibility to careless driving. Charges of reckless driving and cruelty to animals were dropped.
Sentencing will be held August 8, 2022.
