COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a $6,600 request from Sekisui Voltek on Monday night to buy two small parcels of land owned by the City at the south end of Allen Avenue. City Attorney Megan Angell said a half acre parcel at the south end of Allen Avenue was the former location of a Consumers Power substation that served the property at 421 Race Street formerly occupied by Bundy Tube. The City is not currently using the parcel for any purpose. The company also wanted to buy the land which lies between the original Sekisui Voltek parcel and a 20 acre parcel that the company bought in the 1980’s from Bundy Tube. While the company has no plans to expand the Coldwater facility in the immediate future, Angell said this purchase would enable the company to prepare for future expansions to the west if the company determines those to be necessary to continue its operations in Coldwater.
