BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A pet is to blame for a house fire that caused around $18,000 in property damage in the Cereal City on Friday, June 1.
The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to 409 North McKinley Avenue around 3:53 p.m. and found smoke coming from the kitchen.
All occupants had gotten out before firefighters arrived and several pets were safely removed from the structure.
The fire was under control within 10 minutes with the cause being that of one of the pets knocking over combustible items onto the stove top.
