ALBION, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Albion College reopened it’s Whitehouse Nature Center on Wednesday, July 13, following several days investigating alligator sightings in the Kalamazoo River.
School officials say after working with wildlife experts, no evidence of an alligator was found.
The nature center closed on Sunday, July 9, out of an abundance of caution after two people had reported seeing a 4- to 5-foot alligator in the Kalamazoo River within the center.
On Monday, July 10, the nature center remained closed as the college said it was working with the DNR to search and investigate two independent sightings of the alligator.
