KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — With Michigan’s primary election just over two weeks away on Tuesday, August 2, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson reminds voters that the last day to register to vote online, Monday, July 18. But they can still register to vote in person at their local clerk’s office through election day.
She says those who already have their absentee ballots could cast their vote now, and recommends getting completed ballots in the mail now to avoid delays.
Voters can also vote early by absentee ballot at their local clerk’s office through Monday, August 1.
Absentee ballot request data shows that more than one million Michigan residents having requested their ballots.
The biggest race on the primary election ballot is for state governor, with current governor Grechten Whitmer the only Democrat on the ballot.
The five Republicans running for the governor’s seat: Tudor Dixon, Ryan Kelley, Ralph Rebandt, Kevin Rinke and Garrett Soldano.
Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day.
Voters can check the status of their absentee application or ballot online at Michigan.gov/Vote.
