ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A drone and a pair of K-9’s were used Tuesday morning to help apprehend a suspect who was accused of fleeing from police.
23-year-old Austin Ray German of Hudson, Indiana was also wanted on a warrant out of Steuben County for a probation violation.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy tried to stop a small motorcycle with no working lights in the area of County Roads 500 South and 225 West but the driver of the motorcycle fled from the deputy at a high rate of speed.
A short vehicle chase ensured until the suspect left the road and went into a field.
Additional law enforcement resources responded to the area and a perimeter was set up in an attempt to contain the suspect.
The suspect was found in Pleasant Lake by the Indiana State Police about three hours later.
German was booked into the Steuben County Jail on a charge of Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle and on the probation violation warrant.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and additional charges may be sought.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Angola Police, Indiana State Police, and Ashley-Hudson Police.
