COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – August is National Breastfeeding Month.
Carrie Jones, BSN, RN, is ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital’s Certified Breastfeeding Specialist.
She is able to meet one-on-one with mothers to help with any issues they may be experiencing.
Jones says, “I have been a nurse for twenty-two years and have worked on the obstetrics unit since 2003. I see new moms that struggle to breastfeed and get frustrated. I wanted to be able to provide support for them and as much knowledge as possible. So, I became a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. I am able to provide private, one-on-one appointments pre-delivery as well as after birth. We also provide breastfeeding education classes free of charge as part of our prenatal class series. Each mom and baby have their own unique needs. We sit down and discuss goals, assess feedings and latch and then discuss the best options for breastfeeding.
